Aim of Unit 17 Community Development Work
This unit sheds light on the complex nature of community development in the workplace. It requires skilful facilitation and learners need to develop knowledge in this regards. The first step of this is an examination of diversity in communication. The second important part of this is successful engagement with the communities. Third step of this addresses the e process engaged with the development of communication. Learners need to develop skills and knowledge in communication in the fourth part.

LO1 Understand the complex nature of communities and community development
The complex nature in order to develop community has been addressed in this part. The communities which presents in Health and social care are children and young people, elderly people, women, disable people, people who are suffering from ethnic minorities, care residents, hospital patients and homeless. After addressing the nature of disabilities learners need to put focus on different community development areas. This could be prevention from crime, ensure health and safety. Inclusion of diversity in this helps to t ascertain the best result. This could be cultural diversity, sexual diversity and socioeconomic status. Advance strength and supporting system are required to address which works best for community development.
LO2 Understand the role and responsibilities of the community development worker in facilitating community initiatives
In health and social care service learners need to perform community development tasks. This is included with knowledge and skill development. The areas which are required to be incorporated to get the best result are networking, development of resources, marketing and media, teamwork, knowledge of local community and knowledge of relevant legislation. Apart from this, empowering of community is also required to address which mainly focuses on partnership work. Additional features could be incorporated through development of learning opportunities from different dimensions. One more important factor which works best in this is community development work. Establishment of aims and objectives for project is required which is included with survey, data collection, sampling, strategic planning and development of conceptual framework.
LO3 Understand the impact of community development work on communities
The learners will get to know whether their community development works properly to address the issue or not can be identified from evaluating the impact. This impact is divided into two parts such as short and long term impact. The impacts are changes in attitude and perception, improvement in the service facility, dependency, personal relationship and imbalance of power. The improvement should be reflected in management and monitoring of community projects. Learners also need to gather feedback then there will be a clear understand whether learners have succeeded or not.
