Aim of Unit 19 Heritage and Cultural Tourism Management
Unit 19 Heritage and Cultural Tourism Management focuses on the heritage and cultural industries and their methods of interpretation for attracting tourists. This helps the learners to acquire an understanding of the role of heritage and cultural management. They would acquire knowledge on the definition of heritage and culture and the organisations involved in managing heritage and several types of ownership. It further enlightens on the growth and progress of the industry and the potential conflicts within the industry. This also provides an insight into the ways in which advanced technology influences the heritage and culture industry as well as its scope of elucidation.

LO1 Understand the growth and development of the heritage and cultural industry within travel and tourism
In this section, the learners acquire knowledge about the growth and development of heritage and culture industry as well as they acquires information regarding their interests and areas of attraction. This provides an understanding of enhancing attraction on the basis of different destinations, sustainability of transport and changing staff profile. This also provides an insight on the natural aspect and constructional aspects that attract more tourists. An understanding of role of cultural heritage and conflicts among the interests of staffs and tourists are also enclosed in this section.
LO2 Understand the purpose of heritage and cultural attractions within the travel and tourism sector
This section provides an idea of the rationale of these cultural and heritage industries within the tourism sector. This also gives an idea of the importance of these industries with respect to foster education, recreation and research. The learners acquire information on different categories of customers on the basis of targeted people, segmentation and visitor’s level and usage rates.
LO3 Understand roles, responsibilities and ownership of organisations in the heritage and cultural industry
This section helps the learners in understanding the roles and responsibilities of the organisations involved in the heritage and culture industries. They also acquire an idea regarding the ownership of culture and heritage industries as well as gain knowledge about the mission and vision of these organisations. This section further encloses the structure and roles of the organisations involved. The organisations might be part of government agencies, governmental departments or voluntary bodies. This also encloses the different roles and responsibilities of different departments of the organisations involved within the industry.

Additionally, this section also involves the importance of identifying the requirements of audiences so as to incorporate effective interpretation methods.
