Aim of Unit 23 Professional and Personal Development
This unit aims at making the learners understand the importance of personal and professional development. This would help the learner to manage their own personal as well as professional activities by developing skills as per requirement. This unit focuses on developing learners personal and professional skills so as to improve their performance with a wide range of approaches. This also analyses the needs of the learners with the context of developmental needs and in acquiring effective team-management skills for meeting professional objectives. This unit also provides an insight into the ways in which the learner could enhance their learning and capabilities.

LO1 Understand how self-managed learning can enhance lifelong development
In this
section, the learners would be acquiring knowledge about self-managed learning
that could enhance their performance in lifelong development. This focuses on
self-initiating learning procedures by creating goals and analysing
requirements of the learners. This would also help the learner to acquire an
understanding of different learning approaches and learning styles that could
be implemented in the developmental process. This also enlightens on effective
learning skills and lifelong learning for self-development processes. They
would also acquire an idea regarding prioritising their work according to their
requirement and goals. This section also provides information regarding
improving the performance with continuous assessments.
LO2 Be able to take responsibility for own personal and professional development
Self management is a very important part in developing self. Apart from that in order to manage development efficiently a development plan could be made which would consist of various things. The aims, objectives, scope for opportunities, dates for achievements and programme of learning constitute as the main ingredient in a development plan. A development plan would also include personal portfolio and curriculum vitae.
LO3 Be able to implement and continually review own personal and professional development plan
It is important to determine the correct style of learning and be aware about personal style. Evaluation could be made by making responses to the feedback, setting aims again, follow the activity cycles, and recognize the weaknesses and strengths. Establishing of new aims by recognizing the strengths and weaknesses in learning process creates way for better success. Reviewing own plans of development is a specific way of learning which also shows signs of intelligence.
LO4 Be able to demonstrate acquired interpersonal and transferable skills
Such skills could be completed through effective verbal and non-verbal communication. It is very important to learn by myself. Demonstrating skills could be managed through effective time management process. Apart from that engaging into apprenticeships could also promote lifelong learning. There must always be a check upon learning process. This could be done by taking others feedback, working with team respecting opinions of others and improving social skills.
