Aim of Unit 28 Work-based Experience
This unit discussed the importance of the experience at the workplace in the organizations in the social care and healthcare. The unit would describe the connection between the activities, the work and the overall experience. It would help in reflecting on the importance of the experience and its connection to the work. It would describe how planning out activities help in improving the overall work and the involved learner. The importance of recording the evidence at the workplace and its connection to improving the experience would also be covered in this unit. This unit would allow for an amount of flexibility for all kinds of learners.

Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this unit a learner will:
- Be able to negotiate industry experience
- Understand the specific requirements of the placement
- Be able to undertake work experience as identified
- Be able to monitor and evaluate own performance and learning
LO1 Be able to negotiate industry experience
This section would help in the process of negotiating one’s experience in the industry. It would cover the processes like contacting the relevant organizations about one’s own capabilities. It would also touch upon various types of the duties that help in gaining experience like the new process development among others. It would also cover the types of supervisors who affect the experience in terms of their roles. This section would also describe what to be expected from learning and the constraints in the business.
LO2 Understand the specific requirements of the placement
The particular requirement of the placement in a company would be described in this section. It would deal with the routine of the tasks to describe the importance of placement. The section would also explain the importance of the task prioritization. It would also cover the importance of planning in the place of work, the need for a review of the work, the importance of inputs from the seniors among others. This section would also explain the benefits to organization in this context.
LO3 Be able to undertake work experience as identified
This section would describe the importance of the planned activities and the need of recording the activities in terms of experience at work. The section would cover the importance of the planned activities with respect to changing economic, social and political contexts. It would also describe the importance of the activities in terms of the practice codes, procedures which are new in the organization. This section would also stress upon the importance of revising and recording the activities in various forms like spreadsheets, databases among others.
LO4 Be able to monitor and evaluate own performance and learning
This section of the unit would describe the need to monitor one’s own experience and learning’s from it. It would cover the evaluation of the experience of one’s own. The evaluation would cover aspects like standards of industry, examining the performance against the original work proposed. This section would also cover the personal detailing the accounts of what one has learnt in his or her experience. It would include methods like writing reports of reflective nature. It would also cover recommendations from learning’s.
