Aim of Unit 37 The Travel and Tourism Sector
The aim of this unit is to understand the context of global environment through which the travel and tourism sectors are getting operated. This demonstration would be beneficial for the learners to study the travel and tourism sectors. This unit would help the learner to gain a better understanding of the tourism sector in the global scenario. In addition to this, this unit also examines the tourism evolution in a historical insight which helps in understanding the various external influences the tourism sector. Furthermore, investigating the national and international policies would help the learners assess the influences that impacts on the tourism sectors.

Learning outcomes
LO1 Understand the history and structure of the travel and tourism sector
In this part, students would be able to understand the historical aspect tourism development. In addition to this, students would be able to evaluate the various factors of tourism needs for the visitors which would enhance the tourism concepts that would help in deriving various developments for tourism developments. Furthermore, the demonstration of the travel and tourism sector’s structure would help in understanding the needs of these sectors.

LO3 Understand the effects of supply and demand on the travel and tourism sector
The supply and demand on the travel and tourism sector ensures to fulfil the tourism requirements of the visitors. The tourism sector of a particular region gets affected by the economical status of that region. Several factors including inflation, currency exchange rates, work pattern, globalisation and other economical factors influence the growth of the tourism sector. In addition to this, supplying the required services to the visitors also ensures a better growth of this sector.
LO4 Understand the impacts of tourism
Due to tourism business several income sources gets generated and this results in a better employment for a particular region which enhances the strength of an economic region. Tourism business also attracts the foreign people which help in enhancing the currency exchange and it ensures a great revenue source for the governments. However, maintenance is important for attracting the tourists and the government bodies also need to ensure the safety of the citizens.
